Tax Rates

Configure tax rates per country so invoices and portal checkout automatically apply the correct tax.

Setting Up Tax Rates

  1. Go to Settings and click Tax Rates. Only account owners can manage tax rates.
  2. Click New Tax Rate.
  3. Select a Country from the dropdown.
  4. Enter a Name (e.g. "VAT" or "Sales Tax").
  5. Enter the Rate as a percentage (e.g. 20 for 20%).
  6. Click Save.

Each country can have one tax rate. If you need to change a rate, edit the existing entry.

How Tax Is Applied

When an invoice is created (at shipment), the system looks up the tax rate for the customer's billing country. The rate and name are captured on the invoice so they remain accurate even if you change the rate later.

Reverse Charge

If a customer has a VAT number and their billing country is different from your company country, reverse charge applies automatically. The invoice shows zero tax and a "Reverse charge - customer to account for VAT" notice. No tax rate lookup is needed for reverse charge invoices.

Stripe Tax

If a customer pays via Stripe Checkout, Stripe can calculate tax automatically. When Stripe provides a tax amount, it takes precedence over the manually configured rate.
