Lot and Serial Tracking
Track inventory by lot number, serial number, or both. This is useful for products that require batch traceability, expiry management, or individual unit tracking.
Tracking Types
Each product can be set to one of three tracking types:
- Untracked - no lot or serial numbers (the default)
- Lot - tracked by batch/lot number, each lot can hold multiple units
- Serial - tracked by individual serial number, each lot has a quantity of one
Set the tracking type when creating or editing a product.
Receiving Stock with Lots
When receiving stock for a lot-tracked or serial-tracked product, you are prompted to enter a Lot Number and optionally a Serial Number, Manufactured Date, and Expiry Date. Lot numbers must be unique per product.
Lot Statuses
- Available - ready for use
- Quarantined - held for inspection or other reasons
- Expired - past the expiry date
- Consumed - fully used up
Expiry Tracking
If you enable Track Expiry on a lot-tracked product, you can set expiry dates on each lot. Lots are automatically marked as expired when the expiry date passes. The expiry dashboard shows all expired and expiring-soon lots (within 7 days) across your products.
Viewing Lots
Open a product and click Lots to see all lots for that product. Click a lot to view its details, including current quantity, status, dates, and the last 20 stock movements.
